Thornhill Mansion

The Thornhill Mansion is the historic home of Missouri's second Governor, Fredrick Bates. He died here in 1877 at the age of 48. Both the Governor and his wife Nancy Opie Ball Bates, who died in 1877 along with two of their four children are buried in what is the family cemetery behind the mansion. It has been said that objects have been known to disappear and later are found in odd locations. It is also said that when the mansion historian was asked about the hauntings he had replied saying two of the employees (one of which will not go inside after dark), have seen the former Governor upstairs.
It has also been said that the former Governor has been seen in a long black coat through the windows of the upper floor.
The Thornhill Hill Mansion is located at 15185 Olive Blvd. in Faust Park. The cross streets are Arrowhead Estates on the east, and Appalachian Trail to the west. The Park entrance is on the north side of Olive Street.

  3. Hey I live in Missouri. Near Richmond. Bloody Bill Anderson is buried there. I find it to be an extremely haunted state. My house is haunted. Really. I don't know if it is because the area I live in is supposed to be the site of some civil war battles or what? My neighbor has also had apparitions. I didn't really believe in ghosts until I moved here. My ghost or ghosts are nothing scary (too bad) or spectacular. They are more like pranksters. Much of the time they are silent. I enjoy your blog! Keep on writing!
